What is your name?
- My name is Manju Kanwar. I am 19 years old, from Chandelau. I am unmarried. I have completed the 9th grade but now I have quit school.

Where did you learn to sew? Do you want to continue to work here?
- I learned for two years at Veerni. The sewing program was very good. Now I’ve been hired here for 8 months. Sewing and earning money give me a lot of satisfaction. But when my family marries me I will have to do what my husband wants me to do. If we live far away I won’t be allowed to come here. And he may no want me to work.

Besides sewing, what else makes you happy?
- I like to play. (She means play around, be silly with her friends.) I like to watch TV.

Tell me something about your mother.
- I love her a lot. She has a 5th grade education. She’s about 40 years old.

Do you think that girls should receive an education. Why?
- Yes, of course. They need it so that they can progress in life and not struggle so much.
