- My name is Narender Bhati. I am 13, from Kuchiarla.
When did you come to the hostel
- I’ve been here for two years.

- My brothers are 18, 9 and 10. The oldest is living in a hostel in Jodhpur. He wants to join the airforce. My sister is 14. My father is a farmer. There are no problems at home. There is enough money.
What did you do before you came to the hostel? Work? Study?
- Study.
What challenges do you encounter here at the hostel?
- We squabble a lot, my room mates and I.
Do you like the hostel, the school? In what ways do you like or dislike them?
- I like it here. I like to watch the television. I can study at the hostel and I couldn’t in the village. I love math, algebra and geometry. I like them because they come easily to me. I would like to go to college, then join the army. (Sunita has told her about the army, and they have a promotional video that they watch on the computer.)
What makes you happy?
- I like going home to Golia. I’m really excited when there are examinations coming up. I love to take tests!!!!
If you had three wishes, what would you wish for?
- I want a good job. I would like to be independent. I want to help poor people have better lives.
What would you like to do in the future ?
- I really want to complete my college education.
What is your favorite thing?
- Math!!!!

- She’s happy. She’s completed the 10th class.
What makes you cry?
- When my mother is sick. (Mother is almost never sick.) And when girls fight with me.
